Minecraft Server Updated

I’ve gone ahead and updated the server to MC 1.0.1 and the dev build of Craftbukkit to match. I’ve removed the Beta 1.8 world and have gone back to just the old Beta 1.5/1.7 world. Note this means the biomes are COMPLETE different and it seems that all of the major build areas are now tundra & snow. Oh well.

I’ll eventually generate a 1.0 world, but that will probably be once a recommended build of Craftbukkit is out for 1.0.

Infinite Unreality + Minecraft 1.8.1

THIS INFORMATION IS OUT DATED!

The server’s been finally updated to Minecraft Beta 1.8.1 and here’s what’s changed.

The new world has been generated (the seed is thequestofinasnity Smile ) and dubbed Twoson! Yay Earthbound references! The old world is, of course, Onett.

When you log in you’ll probably end up in Twoson first. I don’t know WHY but you probably will.

To get to the worlds you’ll need to use /mv tp or /world since there are no portals yet.

Onett is /mv tp Onett or /world onett
Twoson is /mv tp Twoson or /world world

One more important note. In Onett, your existing chests are all glitched. They’ll all probably be black, which can be fixed by plonking down a torch; they might be facing the wrong way, which is fixed by breaking and replacing them; and double chests may be glitched into a wall, again fixed by breaking and replacing part of them.

Double chests still operate normally even if they’re glitched. The part that LOOKS like it’s in the wall is still where is normally was before.

Minecraft Host Shutdown – UPDATE

The host we use, MyMcServ, is being shutdown August 11. I’m going to take down the server tonight and backup everything. I’ve already got an idea of which host I’ll move to, but it may be a few days before we’re able to get back to the blocky world.

Update 08-10-2011:
Got a new host, the world uploaded, and everything back online last night. I tweeted about it but forgot to update here. HURR

Nether Nuttiness

This was way too long to post in on the sign board or even on Twitter.

Using warps between the Nether and the Normal doesn’t work as intended. What happens is if you try to warp to a point in the Nether while still in the Normal world, you are transported to the same XYZ coordinates as where you left from in the Nether. You are NOT taken to the spot where the warp is.

Example:
A warp called Derp (not an actual warp) is set in the Nether at -32,64,48. You are at 0,64,0 in the Normal world.

When you try to warp to Derp, you are instead teleported to 0,64,0 in the Nether and not to where Derp is. Once IN the Nether though, warping to Derp will work as intended.

This works the other way around, being in the Nether and trying to warp to a location in the Normal world. The same thing will happen.

I’m not sure if this is a bug with the Bukkit server or with the Essentials plugin, or if it’s even fixable. I’ll put up more information as I find it.

UPDATE: It appears this is fixed with Bukkit build #860.

No I’m not turning this into a Minecraft blog.

Okay so you probably already know that I’m addicted to Minecraft. Well I was messing around with some features in it the other day and took a pretty nice screen shot.

Well I was messing about last time in WordPress putting the Christmas theme up, I noticed some options to change the background image.

Put 2 and 2 together… The Minecraft theme now is just temporary and me faffing about with WordPress features.

That is all.
